What is ws2812 LED strip?
WS2812 LED strip is an intelligent programmable RGB LED strip with built-in driver IC. Each LED lamp bead has a WS2812 control chip integrated inside, and no external driver circuit is required. It uses a three-in-one package: the red (R), green (G), and blue (B) LEDs are integrated with the control chip in a 5050 package (5.0mm × 5.0mm) lamp bead. It uses a single-line communication method, and only one data line (Din) is required to control the entire strip, and data is transmitted through a specific timing signal.
It has a cascade function, and each lamp bead automatically forwards the data to the next lamp bead after receiving it, supporting hundreds or thousands of LEDs in series. It can be addressed independently, and the color (24-bit color depth, 16.77 million colors) and brightness of each lamp bead can be controlled individually. Easily achieve complex effects such as rainbow gradient, marquee, breathing light, etc. The voltage is 5V, and each LED is about 60mA when it is fully bright white. The total current needs to be calculated according to the number of LEDs and the appropriate power supply should be selected. Common density: 30/60/74/96/100/144 LEDs per meter. Standard interface: Din (data input), Dout (data output), VCC (power), GND (ground). Compatible with Arduino (FastLED library, NeoPixel library), Raspberry Pi, ESP8266/ESP32, RF, Bluetooth, wifi, music, K-1000C/K-8000C, BC-204/216 and other controllers.
It can be widely used in: home decoration (background light, atmosphere light), advertising signs, DIY projects (art installations, wearable devices), stage lighting, etc. Long light strips require multi-point power supply to prevent the end voltage from dropping. Too long data lines may cause signal distortion, and a signal amplifier can be installed. It is recommended to use a soldering iron below 260℃ to avoid high temperature damage to the IC.
